Posted on Jul 6th, 2018 by Super User 1379 Views

Located just ten miles from the beaches of Southern California, Santa Ana is one of the most densely populated cities in the United States. Originally named the Valley of Saint Anne by members of the Gaspar de Portola expedition from Mexico City, Santa Ana is the county seat of Orange County and the second most populous city in the county. Home to more than 320,000 residents, Santa Ana is also a popular vacation destination for millions of visitors each year.

Things To Do In Santa Ana

Whether you're traveling with the whole family or just with friends. Santa Ana has plenty of things to delight and entertain any group. For family-friendly activities, check out the Santa Ana Zoo, the Discovery Cube, the Santa Ana Downtown Shopping District, or the Bower's Museum. If you're looking for some Santa Ana nightlife, there are plenty of great dance clubs, bars, and honky-tonks to choose from.

Santa Ana Zoo

The Santa Ana Zoo, located at Prentice Park in Santa Ana, has been a favorite family destination since 1952. Founded by Joseph Prentice, the Santa Ana zoo is home to more than fifty monkeys and over 80 species of animals. In fact, having fifty monkeys (or more) in the zoo at all times, was a requirement by Mr. Prentice before he founded the zoo.

In addition to the monkeys, the zoo offers exhibits of many different animals, including Anteaters, Guanacos, and Rheas. The zoo also features an exhibit that preserves one of the most endangered habitats in the world, the Pampas Grasslands of South America. The interactive exhibition space offers guests the opportunities to feel as if they are a part of the space, rather just observers, utilizing walking paths and viewing spaces that integrate into the area and offers educational nodes throughout the exhibit.

The Santa Ana Zoo also offers several rides for visitors to enjoy. The Zoofari Express offers a 6-and-a-half-minute ride through the northern part of the Zoo. The small train, called the Zoofari Express, is a one-third-scale model train that was once used at the Santa's Village in Lake Arrowhead. The Santa Ana Zoo acquired the train in 1998 and have been using it to entertain guests ever since.

The Zoo at Prentice Park also offers a classical carrousel ride with an environmental twist. Children choose an endangered animal to ride and receive an informational card about the animal and explaining why it is endangered. Families can also enjoy the petting zoo, as they feed goats and sheep and milk a replica cow. The Knowlwood Cafe', the Zoo's primary restaurant, offers hamburgers and other lunch items and snacks.

Everyone can enjoy the day at the Zoo in Santa Ana!

Through their “Science of Hockey” exhibit, kids can examine the science behind athletic principles like “velocity,” “strength,” and “impact.”

The Discovery Cube offers a wealth of interactive exhibits that will have your children getting their hands on new (to them) scientific discoveries. Exhibits like the rock wall, where kids learn about gravity, or the hurricane, where kids can experience the power of mother nature first hand.

Arrested for DUI in Santa Ana

If you are arrested for DUI in Santa Ana, you will be taken to the Santa Ana City Jail for booking. It is important to remember to stay calm when interacting with the police, to avoid making things worse. Cooperating with a police officer who suspects that you've been drinking, is required by law.

According to Vehicle Code 23612, any person who operates a vehicle in the State of California is considered to have already given their consent to having their blood or breath tested for the purpose of determining alcoholic content if that person is lawfully detained on suspicion of having violated the drunk driving laws of the state.

This means that if you are pulled over on suspicion of DUI, you are obligated to submit to the breath or blood test when asked by the investigating officer. The refusal to submit to a breath test or blood test could result in a forced blood draw to test your blood for alcohol content and an increased penalty if convicted of DUI.

DUI Related VC Codes

The drunk driving laws for California are found in Vehicle Code Section 23152 and Vehicle Code section 23153, which says that:

  • 23152(a) – It is illegal for anyone who is under the influence of alcohol to operate a vehicle
  • 23152(b) It is illegal for anyone who has a blood alcohol content exceeding 0.08% or more to operate a vehicle.
  • 23152(e) – It is illegal for anyone who is under the influence of drugs to operate a vehicle.
  • 23152(f) – It is illegal for anyone who is under the influence of any combination of drugs or alcohol to operate a vehicle.

In many cases, both the 23152(a) and 23152(b) charges will be filed together.

California's legal definition of DUI is operating a vehicle under the influence of any substance, including drugs, that can affect your nervous system, brain, or muscles and includes illegal substances, prescriptions drugs, and even over the counter drugs if they affect you to a significant degree. You are driving under the influence if you drink alcohol or take any kind of drug that impairs you to the point that you are unable to drive like a sober person and, yet, you drive, anyway.

If you are arrested in Santa Ana, you will be informed of your Miranda Rights, which include the right to remain silent and the right to an attorney. If you are unable to afford an attorney, one will be appointed by the state to assist you.

Bail For DUI

Bail is an amount of money that an individual can pay to the court system to secure their release from jail sooner. Rather than having to wait for a court date and trial, a person can pay the “bail amount” to the court as a guarantee that they will appear for hearings and the trial. Once the court case reaches its conclusion, the court returns the money to the person who paid it.

Who Can Pay Bail in Santa Ana?

Anyone can pay the bail amount for another person. If a friend or family member has the money to help bail someone out of jail, they can pay the money to the court so their friend can be free until the trial or hearing date. The exception to this is in the case of a PC 1275 Hold On Bail.

PC 1275 Hold On Bail

Sometimes, if the police officers in charge of booking you into jail have reason to believe that the money being used to bail you out might have come from illegal sources, they will refuse to accept the money and keep you in jail, instead.

PC 1275 Hearings

If a1275 Hold has been placed on someone's bail, a hearing will be held to determine whether or not the money that will be used to pay the bail is, in fact, from illegal sources. In order to prove that the money is “clean,” a person will need to bring bank and credit card statements, bill payment statements, car payment information, tax returns, and proof of income to their PC 1275 Hearing.

It is advisable to have an attorney and a bail bondsman with you when you appear for your 1275 Hearing. You can also bring anyone with you who can testify as to the source of your income and help give clarity to your financial situation.

Making use of a bail bond agency, like Mr. Nice Guy Bail Bonds, can help avoid the issues of a PC 1275 hold on bail.

DUI Bail Bonds In Santa Ana

The amount of bail required to get out of jail is sometimes more than someone can easily afford. In fact, it is more common than not that an individual might need help getting out of jail. DUI bail amounts are often more than $5,000, not an easy sum to come up with on a Friday night.

This is where a bail bondsman comes in. A bail bond agency, like Mr. Nice Guy Bail Bonds, works with a surety company to post a bond with the court that says that the bail bond agency will ensure your appearance for court-related business, and the court accepts that bond in place of the cash money they would normally require. Once you have honored your court appearances and brought your court case to a close, the bond is returned to the bail bond company.

Bail bonds require a fee to be paid to the bail bond agent, usually 10% of the total cost of bail. This fee is non-refundable and is payment for the part that the bail bond agent and the surety company play in ensuring a person's cooperation with the court system and the convenience of being able to get out of jail much faster than having to wait for a court hearing and trial.

Bail bonds allow people to get out of jail and return to their “real” lives, holding a job, paying bills, and taking care of their family. Nobody has time to sit in jail, waiting for days, weeks, and even months for their court case to come to a close. Bail bonds allow you to take care of  the important things in your life, while still assuring the court that you'll be available to take care of all of your legal matters.
