Bail Bond Payment Options

Payment plans and bail bond financing is only available in the state of California. We do not offer payment plans anywhere outside of California. Bail amounts in California can run into the thousands and, occasionally, even the millions. Even relatively small mistakes can result in charges that carry hefty bail requirements. If you find yourself in jail, charged with crimes that carry these high bail amounts, you may be wondering what your bail payment options are?

To qualify for bail bond payment plans in California:

1. Defendant must be a California resident.

2. Must have a working co-signer(s) with proof of employment (recent paystubs), proof of California residency (recent utility bills or car registration) and a valid California ID.

3. Co-signer(s) gross annual income must be equal to or greater than the total bail amount. Or be a home owner with enough equity in the property (real estate located in California) to cover the full bail amount and any fees owed to the bond company.

4. Payment plans are not available for the following types of cases: out of state bonds, out of county warrants, immigration bonds, Federal cases, identity theft, petty theft, stolen vehicles, grand theft, receiving stolen property, bond surrenders, prostitution, pimping, pandering and or drug related charges.

5. Charges that may qualify for payment plans include: PC243(E)(1), PC273.5(A), PC273.5, PC422, PC69, PC148, PC245, VC23153(A)&(B). Domestic violence related cases such as corporal injury on spouse or cohabitant, violating restraining order. DUI related charges such as hit & run, or DUI with accident.

6. Charges may not include, but not limited to: PC530.5, any and all HS (Health & Safety) codes, PC29800, any Defendant with a strike, PC496(A), PC487 or PC1275.

Can You Pay Your Own Bail?

If you have the cash, you can bail yourself out of jail, working directly with the justice system, and be on your way home in no time. However, the State of California often sets the bail rates very high for certain crimes. In addition, the arresting officers will often charge for as many different violations and variations of crimes as possible, not knowing which crimes might actually go to trial. Each of those charges and enhancements may require separate or additional amounts of bail. All of that can add up in a hurry.

Bailing Yourself Out Of Jail

If you find that the amount of bail money required exceeds your current ability to pay, you may need to enlist the services of a local bail bondsman. A bail bondsman works through a surety company to provide a “Bail Bond” to the court. A Bail Bond is a contract with the court that ensures the bail bond agent will make sure the defendant makes all of their court appearances and satisfies all judicial requirements, or that the surety company will pay the entire amount of bail to the court in the defendant’s place.

This contract is a serious obligation between the defendant and the bail bondsman. If the defendant fails to appear, or meet their legal obligations, the bail bondsman will be required to help the court locate and surrender the defendant.

By using a bail bondsman to bail yourself out of jail, you are able to return to your life, job and family for a fraction of the full cost of bail. Mr. Nice Guy Bail Bonds can help you explore all of your bail options. Give them a call at (844) 400-2245.

What If You Don’t Have Money For Bail?

Bail amounts in the State of California can often be quite high. It can be difficult for most people to come up with the cash necessary to bail out jail directly through the court system. Bail bonds can help.

A bail bond agency contracts through a surety company to provide a bond to the court on your behalf. The bond ensures compliance with all court-ordered appearances in return for a small portion (usually 10%) of the total cost of bail.

When bail amounts are high, the amount needed to secure a bail bond can also be quite high. The State of California sets minimum bail bond fee requirements that all agencies must abide by, meaning that each agency must charge a minimum of 7% for bail bonds, and most bail situations require a 10% fee.  At Mr. Nice Guy Bail Bonds, the dedicated bail agents understand that not everyone has the ready cash to pay for either bail or bail bonds, but still need help to get out of jail. Mr. Nice Guy offers a variety of payment plans and accepts a number of payment methods.

Paying For Bail Using Cryptocurrency

Oftentimes it can be more convenient to use cryptocurrency like Bitcoin or Ethereum to pay for bail. However, bail cannot be paid directly to the court system to satisfy bail requirements. Due to the volatile nature of cryptocurrency values, courts are currently unable to accept them as direct payment for bail, and cash or other traditional payment methods are still required. However, rather than to try to convert those funds to something that can be used by the court, bail bonds can be secured, using cryptocurrency to secure the bond, avoiding the need to quickly convert large amounts of crypto into cash.

It’s hard to say when, if ever, courts will be able to directly accept Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies to process bail payments. In August 2018, the FBI arrested a Serbian cyber criminal named Martin Marsich, who attempted to pay his bail using cryptocurrency. Marisch was arrested for hacking an online gaming company and stealing more than $300,000 worth of in-game currency and “digital goods,” according to a report by Market Watch, and offered to pay his $750,000 bail using digital currency.

At first, the FBI and California court were willing to accept the bail payment in cryptocurrency but had to change their stance. It became clear that setting up a digital wallet was more complicated for a government entity than it was for a private individual. There were also concerns that having a single person sell off such a large holding in a single currency would cause instability in the market, reducing the value of the coin that was used. (The exact type of cryptocurrency held by Marsich was not disclosed, however, it was confirmed that he held lesser known digital currency, rather than Bitcoin or Ethereum, which might have been able to hold up to a sell-off of that magnitude.) There were also other issues, involving the court’s ability to convert the coin. In the end, the court determined that it wasn’t in the market or the court’s best interest to accept Bitcoin, or any other cryptocurrency, as bail payment.

Securing Bail Bonds Using Cryptocurrency

While the court system may not be able to process bail payments using cryptocurrency, there is still hope. Bail bonds require only a portion of the bail amount (usually 10%) to be paid up front as a fee used to secure the bond. Mr. Nice Guy Bail Bonds is already prepared to accept Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and BitcoinCash to process bail bond payments and help you get out of jail.

Using Bitcoin To Get Out Of Jail

Mr. Nice Guy Bail Bonds was one of the first bail bond agencies equipped to process Bitcoin for bail payments. Bitcoin payments offer the advantage of being completely dissociated with all other financial information connected to an individual. Bitcoin transfers can be completely anonymous and don’t require the person making the payment to be in the same country as the person receiving the payment.

Bitcoin is a digital currency, stored in a “digital wallet.” This virtual bank account, for lack of a better term, allows the user to send and receive money anywhere in the world, without incurring any foreign transaction fees.

While courts are not yet able to process court fees, fines, or bail payments using Bitcoin, you can still use Bitcoin to get out of jail. A quick call to Mr. Nice Guy Bail Bonds will allow you to secure a bail bond for yourself, or someone else, in minutes. Bail Bonds only require a small fee, usually 10% of the total cost of bail, to secure the bond and get you out of jail fast! For more information on using Bitcoin or other digital currency, to get out of jail in a hurry, call Mr. Nice Guy at (844) 444-2245.

Ethereum For Bail Payments

The Ether is the digital currency unit used to transfer value, using the Ether3eum platform. Using Ether to make payments to anyone, anywhere in the world, can be done at little to no cost for the user. Ethereum is completely decentralized, meaning it is not overseen by any government or banking authorities. Rather, the integrity of the currency is ensured through mathematic blockchain technology.

Courts are not equipped to accept Ethereum as payment for fines, court costs, or bail bonds. However, you can still use Ethereum to get out of jail. Securing a bail bond in order to obtain release from custody only requires a payment of 10% of the amount of bail. Mr. Nice Guy Bail Bonds is fully equipped to accept that payment in Ethereum currency. One call to Mr. Nice Guy can get you out of jail using Ethereum, or other cryptocurrencies.
